the Sarcoma Foundation of
America
Note & Holiday Greeting Cards by Annina Hanlon
Annina's Story
On June 30, 2009, when
Annina was 12-1/2 years old, she was diagnosed with a form of bone
cancer called Osteosarcoma, a rare cancer primarily discovered in adolescents
and young adults.
Soon after she started
her seven-months of intensive treatment, including 18 rounds of chemotherapy and
state-of-the-art limb-salvage surgery (for which she has been mostly in
the hospital at Kaiser Permanente), she decided she wanted to devote
time to raising money for pediatric cancer awareness and research -- so
more kids do not have to endure the treatment she has had. Annina’s
family found the KidsAreStars.com web site, which makes it easy to put
Annina’s water color pencil and felt pen artwork to “work” raising money
for The Sarcoma Foundation of America. The Sarcoma Foundation of
America funds grants for Sarcoma research and conducts education and
advocacy efforts on behalf of Sarcoma patients.
